White Bear Area Local History Curriculum

The White Bear Area Local History Curriculum and resources are designed to help the community learn more about our local history. The curriculum's hands-on design is geared towards the elementary level to help students fulfill local history learning requirements. However, the units and activities can easily be used across several grade levels as a whole or individually, at school or at home. more resources at varying levels are being added frequently so check back often!

Legends Activity Through the use of stories and photographs from the White Bear Lake area, students will discuss the advantages and challenges of oral history. Learn more....
1910 Census Activity Students will learn what life would have been like in our area in 1910. Learn more....
Pictorial History Activity Through the use of photographs from the White Bear area, students will analyze historical images. Learn more....
Tour or Presentation Students will see examples of historic sites around White Bear, either in person or through a slide show. Students will demonstrate knowledge of WBL’s historical society, and recognize the ongoing efforts to preserve history within the White Bear area. Learn more....
